Importing data

Postby PaulB » Mon Aug 13, 2007 12:24 pm

I have a csv file that looks like this:

Horse Odds Win/lose
Snoqualmie 2.12 2
FarmerBrown 1.65 1
Caravel 1.69 1

(formatting lost in this thread)

When I import it, it looks like its parsed the data correctly, but when I ask it to update the results grid, the data for the horse and odds goes across, but not the result.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Paul,

Can i just confirm you are opening the CSV file directly into TSM.
If so, it is probably your headers.
Horse can be anything = Horse
Odds needs to be all lowercase = odds
Win/Lose needs to be all lower case and no spaces or backslash = winlose

A quick and easyway or getting a CSV 'template' is to Save as CSV but with no data in it. This will create a CSV file in the correct format with no data.

Remember when opening CSV files that the CSV file cannot be currently open such as open in Excel. You have to close the file to let TSM have access to it.

When copy/pasting the data from Excel or Works, to TSM , you do not include the headers.

That's sorted it. I had the headers the same as in the text in the main window above, which had some capitals and a '/' in it.

Thanks
Paul
